On November 16, 2021, Ambassador Pratt traveled to Ali-Sabieh. He started his visit with a stop at the Holl-Holl refugee camp, where he met members of the refugee community to learn more about the challenges they face and to discuss current U.S. assistance efforts. The United States is proud to partner with UNHCR and the Government of Djibouti in responding to the needs of refugees.
The Ambassador also visited Ali-Sabieh High School and met with the school’s principal, Mr. Ahmed Abdoulkader. They toured the school and Ambassador Pratt personally congratulated students on their outstanding performance during an English presentation. The Ambassador highlighted the long partnership that U.S. Embassy Djibouti maintains with Djibouti schools and other institutions to support English language learning. During his trip the Ambassador was warmly welcomed by Mr. Moussa Aden Miganehm, the Prefet of the region, and Mr. Omar Ahmed Wais, the President of the Regional Council, with whom he discussed opportunities for the U.S. mission to support economic development in the region and additional ways to build the capacity and skills of young people.
