Please be advised that, the price of a medical exam is now 20,000 DJF (112 USD) for a child and 50,000 DJF (280 USD) for an adult. This is as a result of the Centers for Disease Control’s new gonorrhea testing requirement.
There is currently a two-to-three-week wait time for medical exams. To help us ensure the timely processing of all immigrant visa cases, please arrive in Djibouti no later than three weeks prior to your scheduled appointment.
The U.S. Embassy in Djibouti oversees the panel physician program in Djibouti but is not responsible for ensuring that a medical examination is completed prior to a visa interview. This is solely the applicant’s responsibility.
All medical examinations, once completed, are transmitted within five business days from the panel physician’s office to the U.S. Embassy in Djibouti to be included in the applicant’s case file.
Before the issuance of an immigrant visa, every applicant, regardless of age, must undergo a medical examination. The examination will be conducted by a licensed physician as designated by the U.S. Embassy who has been trained in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention disease monitoring protocols. It is the applicant’s responsibility to cover any examination costs, which are in addition to the visa fees.
