USAID Representative Meets Beneficiaries of Workforce Development Activity
On November 21, 2020, Mr. Lloyd Jackson, USAID Representative in Djibouti, met with beneficiaries of an employability program funded by the American people through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to help Djibouti’s youth find jobs. USAID’s Workforce Development (WFD) activity is a five-year program funded by the U.S. government and implemented by the Education Development Center (EDC). The project prepares and equips job seekers with the necessary skills to find employment and to succeed as entrepreneurs.
The meeting was organized with project participants who have found employment or have started their own businesses because of the initiative. One of the graduates noted that the project’s entrepreneurship coaching and mentoring program helped him improve the bankability of his start-up by helping him to focus on an achievable finance and business plan. Others noted how their communication, management, and presentation skills improved as a result of the training.
Mr. Jackson expressed his pleasure in meeting the participants and encouraged them to continue working towards achieving their professional goals.
