United States Announces Nearly $5 Million in Humanitarian Assistance for Djibouti

DJIBOUTI, Djibouti (August 2023) – The United States recently announced nearly $5 million in humanitarian assistance for Djibouti through the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration to help address the urgent challenges faced by refugees and vulnerable migrants.

The humanitarian assistance will strengthen international partnerships, including with organizations such as UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and with the International Organization for Migration (IOM).  These partnerships are critical to effectively addressing the needs of people impacted by conflict, drought, and food insecurity throughout the region.

The United States remains committed to standing with Djibouti and its people to alleviate suffering and promote regional stability.  This humanitarian assistance further solidifies the strong partnership between the two nations and underscores shared values of compassion, solidarity, and mutual support.
