Scheduling a Passport Appointment

If you would like to renew or apply for a first-time U.S. passport at U.S. Embassy Djibouti, you must make an appointment online by clicking here.

Please note that due to a high volume of appointments, each applicant must have their own appointment.  Please do not book multiple appointments per time slot.

Passport Appointments at Camp Lemonnier

For those U.S. citizens with access to Camp Lemonnier, consular staff will visit 11 Degrees North every Thursday, between 0900 and 1000, to accept passport applications for both tourist and official passports.  There is no need to make an appointment online.

Personal passports currently take 2-3 weeks to process; official passports take approximately 2 months to process.

Passport Application Requirements

Please see the directions below for preparing your passport application.  You will need the following item:

Application Form:  All applicants will need to submit either a DS-11 or a DS-82 passport application.

  • DS- 82: Individuals who already have an official or personal passport must use the DS-82 form.
  • DS-11: Individuals who have never had any passport (official or personal), those under 18 years old the last time they applied for a passport, and minors must submit a DS-11 form.  Note that DS-11 must be signed in front of a Consular Officer.

Original evidence of U.S. Citizenship and a COPY of this Evidence:  Applicants must bring with them an original evidence of U.S. Citizenship and a front and back photocopy of this evidence.  Evidence includes:

  • Full-validity, undamaged U.S. passport (can be expired, only a photocopy of the photo-page required)
  • S. Birth Certificate
  • Consular Report of Birth Abroad
  • Certificate of Naturalization
  • Certificate of Citizenship

Photo Identification

  • If you are using a U.S. passport as your evidence of citizenship, this can also be used as your photo ID.
  • If you are using citizenship evidence without a photo, please bring the original U.S. government-issued photo ID and a front/back photocopy of this ID.

One (1) 2″ x 2″ passport photograph

  • If you are applying at Camp Lemonnier, you can get a passport photo at the Public Affairs office on Wednesday mornings

Passport Fees

If applying at the U.S. Embassy, we accept USD, DJI Franc, or Credit Cards.

If applying at Camp Lemonnier, we accept only USD, EXACT CHANGE ONLY

  • DS-11 fee (adult)- 145USD or 25,800 DJI
  • DS-11 fee (minor) – 115USD or 20,500 DJI
  • DS-82 fee – 110USD or 19600 DJI
  • Optional Passport Card – $35 with DS11; $30 with DS82

If Both Parents Can Not Appear in Person

  • Parent who does not appear can fill out Form DS-3053 – Statement of Consent: Issuance of a U.S. Passport to a Minor Under Age 16

  • Form must be filled out/signed by the missing parent and notarized. Note at this time we do not accept notaries from Kenya, Somalia, or Yemen.
  • A photocopy of the valid ID presented to notary must accompany the DS-3053.

Lost or Stolen Passports

  • If you have lost your previous passport, you must use Form DS-11. In addition, please complete the following document:

Department of Defense Form DD-1056

  • All applications must include form DD-1056, “Authorization to Apply for a ‘No Fee’ Passport and/or Request for Visa.”
  • Before submitting this form, it must be assigned a barcode by a DOD issuing agency in Fort Belvoir.

  • A copy of your orders
  • Justification for why you need a full-validity official/diplomatic passport

 One (1) 2″ x 2″ passport photograph

  • This can be obtained at the Public Affairs office which is open Wednesday mornings

 One (1) single-sided copy of finalized travel orders
