
Christopher Snipes joined the U.S. Mission to Djibouti as the Deputy Chief of Mission in August 2023.
He most recently served as the Counselor for Environment, Science, Technology, and Health at the U.S. Embassy in Paris. From 2019 – 2020 he served as the Director of the Office of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons Affairs at U.S. Embassy Baghdad, and from 2016 – 2019 as the Director of Africa Regional Services, a public diplomacy support office for U.S. Embassies in Africa. He previously served as the Spokesperson at the U.S. Embassies in Islamabad and Nairobi.
Before joining the Foreign Service, Christopher worked at the Department of Interior, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and at an environmental consulting firm. He was a Peace Corps volunteer in Mauritania and a project manager for CARE in Mali.
Christopher earned a BA in international relations from UC Santa Barbara, and both an MS in environmental science and an MPA from Indiana University, Bloomington. He is from California.
