Arta Launching of USAID-funded Women’s Empowerment and Livelihoods project

Arta Region

The U.S. Embassy, Djiboutian government, and UNDP celebrated the launch of the USAID-funded Women’s Empowerment and Livelihoods project at Arta’s Regional Council on September 4.  USAID funded this two-year, $1,000,000 U.S. dollars project that will be implemented by UNDP in partnership with the Ministry of Women and Family.  The project will improve the livelihoods of rural and urban women; build the capacity of community development organizations that support women and youth – including the Ministry of Women and Family; and promote women’s empowerment by supporting income-generating activities. This project supports the Ministry of Women and Family’s objective of improving women’s empowerment through poverty reduction and will also strengthen the capacity of women-led associations and cooperatives.
