Redirecting Resources in Djibouti from Processing Immediate Relative Petitions on Behalf of Yemenis to Processing Yemeni Immigrant Visa Cases
The U.S. Embassy in Djibouti announces that, beginning July 2 we will no longer schedule appointments to accept new immigrant visa petitions filed by U.S. citizens on behalf of their immediate Yemeni family members (spouse, child, or parent of a U.S. citizen).
We will honor requests for the filing of an immediate relative petition for those petitioners who inquired about an appointment and can prove they were in Djibouti prior to July 2, provided an existing petition has not already been filed with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
We are taking this step so that we may focus our resources on reuniting families by processing immigrant visas for Yemenis who already have approved immigrant visa petitions and are physically present in Djibouti. This change will also allow us to focus our attention on those applicants who have been waiting the longest.
As of July 2, we advise U.S. citizens seeking to apply on behalf of their immediate relatives to direct petition applications to USCIS. Please consult the USCIS website for the appropriate mailing address, which is dependent upon where you reside, at http://www.uscis.gov/i-130-addresses.
